I woke up at about 5:30 am to one of my pet rats crawling on my head. I thought someone had come in and put her on me to wake me up, until I realized everyone else was still asleep…

She had Houdini’d her way out of her cage, jumped down off of a dresser, ran across the room and managed to climb up onto my bed, and did all of this without being chased down by my cat (thankfully). My rat is a ninja.

As strange as it sounds, this warmed the cackles of my heart. She could have gone off and started exploring the various nooks and crannies of my room and given me a heart attack when I realized she wasn’t in her cage. Instead, I wake up and she’s chilling on my head. She wanted to hang out with me. And that is awesome. :)

Oh, and we found the weak spot on the cage. A single bar had come loose. It has been fixed. :)
